Man sues oil company over slip, fall on floor mat

A man is suing FKG Oil Company after he allegedly slipped on a mat and suffered injuries.

Jay Fleming filed a lawsuit on Dec. 15 in the Madison County Circuit Court against FKG Oil Company, Aramark Uniform and Career Apparel, LLC and Aramark Uniform Services (Midwest) LLC, alleging negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Fleming was on the Highland premises owned, operated and maintained by the defendants on Dec. 30, 2019, when he stepped on a floor map that slipped from under his feet, causing him to fall. The suit states that an inspection of the floor mat was done, revealing that water was under the mat. The water allegedly caused the mat to slip under Fleming.

Fleming alleges KG Oil Company, Aramark Uniform and Career Apparel, LLC and Aramark Uniform Services (Midwest) LLC were negligent in maintaining the premises in a reasonably safe condition, exercising care in the maintenance and control of the premises and negligent acts or omissions causing injury.

Fleming claims he was caused to suffer injuries to his right shoulder, nerves, tissue and tendons, as well as past and future physical pain due to his injuries. He also claims he incurred expenses for hospital and medical treatment.

Fleming seeks a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus pre and post-judgment interest and cost of suit.
