Walmart customer allegedly hit by shopping carts at Wood River store

A shopper is suing Walmart after she was allegedly struck by shopping carts while at the Wood River store.

Plaintiff Gloria Bell filed the lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Inc., and store manager Glenn Masterson and employee Antonio Shaw, citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Bell Hultz was a patron at a Walmart store in Wood River on Nov. 19, 2021. She claims that while she was entering the store, Shaw was bringing in shopping carts with the use of a CartCaddy and struck her with the shopping carts. She claims she fell and suffered injuries.

According to Bell, the defendants negligently failed to provide a safe environment to protect the safety of its customers and failed to properly train employees to maneuver the CartCaddy while keeping a lookout for customers. She also alleges Shaw failed to keep a proper lookout.

Bell alleges that as a result of her injuries, she has experienced pain, suffering and disability. She adds that she has incurred medical expenses and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper.
