Suit alleges motorist crashed into Maryville doctor’s office, causing injuries to woman waiting inside

A woman is suing the driver of a vehicle that crashed into a Maryville doctor’s office building, causing the plaintiff to suffer serious injuries.

Josephine A. Doersam filed a lawsuit on Jan. 11 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Jacqueline B. Strauss, alleging negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Doersam was sitting inside the office of Dr. Michael Mandis on Vadalabene Drive in Maryville on Jan. 27, 2020, at approximately 2:34 p.m. While she was waiting, she claims Strauss was pulling her 2003 Dodge Caravan into a parking space when she crashed into the building. The crash allegedly caused damage to the inside and outside of the building and caused Doersam to suffer serious injuries.

Doersam alleges Strauss failed to keep the vehicle under proper control, failed to apply the brakes to avoid colliding with the building, failed to stop, swerve or maneuver the vehicle to avoid the collision and traveled too fast for the conditions of the roadway.

The plaintiff claims she was caused to suffer severe and permanent injuries to her muscles, ligaments, tissue and nerves. She also claims she suffered pain and mental anguish, was hindered from her regular daily living activities and affairs, lost wages and benefits and incurred medical expenses.

Doersam seeks an amount in excess of $50,000, plus cost of suit.
