Motorist alleges injuries from Interstate 55 crash

A motorist alleges injuries after another driver caused a collision on Interstate 55.

Jordan Clay filed a lawsuit on Jan. 19 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Dylan Slater, alleging negligence and personal injury.

According to the lawsuit, on July 11, 2021, Clay was traveling northbound on Interstate 55 near mile marker 12 when Slater allegedly struck the plaintiff’s vehicle in a rear-end/side-swipe collision.

Clay alleges Slater negligently and carelessly failed to reduce speed to avoid a collision, failed to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles, negligently and carelessly failed to maintain control of his vehicle, failed to use evasive maneuvers to avoid a collision, failed to be attentive, failed to obey the rules of the road, failed to use ordinary care to avoid a collision and failed to use reasonable care when operating a vehicle.

Clay was allegedly caused to suffer severe injury and pain, loss of enjoyment of life, medical bills, past and future pain and suffering, disability and property damage.

Clay seeks an amount in excess of $50,000, plus court costs.
