Motorist alleges garbage truck driver caused Cahokia collision

A Belleville driver is suing Robert Sanders Waste Systems, claiming one of its garbage truck drivers crashed into his vehicle.

Plaintiff Michael Crawford filed a lawsuit in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Robert Sanders Waste Systems, Inc. and Bryan Richardson, citing negligence and carelessness.

According to the lawsuit, on Oct. 5, 2021, Crawford was traveling west on Carol Drive in Cahokia. At the same time, Richardson, who was acting as an employee of Robert Sanders Waste Systems, was operating a garbage truck in a driveway on Carol Lane and collided with the plaintiff’s vehicle. The lawsuit alleges the collision was caused by Richardson’s negligent driving.

As a result, Crawford claims he sustained serious injuries, which have caused him permanent disability, pain, suffering and will impact his ability to enjoy normal daily activities and earn income. He adds that he has incurred medical costs and will continue to require medical care to recover from his injuries.
