Man accuses Illinois Central Railroad Company of Negligence

Alberto Gonzalez has filed a lawsuit against the Illinois Central Railroad Company (ICRR) in the United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois. The case, identified as 1:24-cv-03573, was filed on May 2, 2024. Gonzalez alleges that ICRR failed to provide him with a safe work environment and equipment, leading to his injury.

Represented by Casey Jones Law Firm and O’Connor Law Group, LLC, Gonzalez is an Illinois resident who was employed by ICRR. On July 28, 2021, he was allegedly forced to operate equipment without proper training or instructions which resulted in him being thrown off and breaking his leg. ICRR is a corporation operating in Illinois and sixteen other states with its principal United States Headquarters in Homewood, Illinois.

Gonzalez’s claim against ICRR is based on the Federal Employers’ Liability Act (FELA). He alleges that ICRR’s negligence led to his injuries which include loss of income and reduced earning capacity, physical and emotional pain and suffering among others.

In seeking relief from the court, Gonzalez requests that ICRR be found in direct violation of FELA. He further asks for compensatory damages for loss of income and benefits as well as for pain and suffering; these amounts are to be determined by the trier of fact.
