A motorist is suing another driver for allegedly causing a collision after running a stop sign at an intersection.
Crystal Lechner filed a lawsuit on Jan. 3 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Sandra Grapperhaus.
According to the lawsuit, Lechner was traveling south on Troy O’Fallon Road at the intersection of West Kirsch Road on Jan. 10, 2020. At the same time, Grapperhaus was traveling east, approaching Tory O’Fallon Road. As Lechner was going through the intersection, Grapperhaus allegedly ran the stop sign and collided into Lechner’s vehicle.
Lechner alleges Grapperhaus failed to maintain a careful lookout, failed to observe and maintain proper speed, failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection, failed to yield to the right of way, failed to prevent a collision, failed to maintain power proper and adequate control of her vehicle and failed to exercise care in the operation of her vehicle.
Lechner claims she was caused to suffer injuries to her hip, left leg, both knees, lower back, neck, chest and both shoulders. She also claims she endured significant pain and suffering, continued loss of enjoyment of life and incurred medical expenses.
Lechner seeks an amount in excess of $50,000, prejudgment interest and costs of suit.
