Belleville woman alleges child injured her with ping pong paddle

A woman claims a child threw a ping pong paddle at her at the Dorchester Swim & Tennis Club, striking her in the mouth and causing injuries.

Plaintiffs Abigail A. Hoerner and her father Garrett P. Hoerner filed a lawsuit in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against defendants Quinnton E. Saunders, Sean D. Saunders and Lisa M. Saunders, citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Abigail and Garrett Hoerner were present at the Dorchester Swim & Tennis Club located at 801 South 74th St. in Belleville. Abigail Hoerner alleges that while she was there, Saunders carelessly threw a ping pong paddle, which hit her in the mouth. As a result, she claims she fell and suffered injuries to her mouth and teeth. According to the lawsuit, Abigail Hoerner endured pain, suffering and disfigurement and has incurred medical costs, as a result of her injuries.

The plaintiffs have included Saunders’ parents, Sean and Lisa Saunders, as defendants in the lawsuit for allegedly failing to properly supervise their minor child when he injured her.

The plaintiffs are seeking damages in an amount exceeding $50,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper.
